I find it interesting that the word FUN is bigger in my tag cloud than say, Old House, Back Porch, Bathroom….lol. It just shows that I have been goofing off. I need to get to work thereby creating more posts on work completed on MY house.

“A 29-year-old Pineville woman told police someone grabbed her purse from her arms as she was walking into an Alexandria store Tuesday.
The woman told Alexandria Police that around 3 p.m. she left her car to go inside Big Lots, 3200 Monroe St., when a man came up from behind her, hitting her in the head and knocking her down. The man grabbed her purse and took off in a white car.
A witness to the incident told officers that he saw the man get into a vehicle with several other men, wait for several minutes and then he got out and grabbed the woman’s purse and took off.”
Wow! I witnessed that. It looked more like a domestic dispute than a purse snatching. I almost parked next to her, but her truck was parked so crooked and across two spaces that I didn’t. I parked across. They were talking, then all of sudden her scarf went flying and she started dialing on her phone. I figured it was an argument and that she was calling the police. I didn’t realize her purse was snatched!

***I called the police and gave them what I saw. The woman was supposed to go in for two days now to make a full report and to list what was in her purse. As of today, she has not done so. Maybe it was a domestic dispute…it seems like the officer had similar thoughts to mine. Sure didn’t look like a purse snatching to me. Especially since she got up, jumped in her crooked parked truck and sped off like a demon without waiting for the police to come to the scene. I did not see a purse on her shoulder or arm when they were talking. I grabbed my phone to call police, saw her dialing and thought she had already called. I got out to see if she needed help, but she had already jumped in her truck to leave. It is interesting though, what is reported in the paper makes people feel unsafe, when the truth is, there probably was not a purse snatching at all…..anyway…..
A muffin, piece of bologna, chocolate chip cookie, an unidentified dessert and pretend coffee an okay present? Mother’s Day of course! Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers out there. You deserve to prop your feet up, let the laundry go and let everyone else do the worrying today.

Saturday, there was an estate sale next door. I got up at 6:00 a.m. to see what all they had. I found some neat things. I found a prayer Bible that was published in 1894, two vintage jewelry cases (that I like to put my craft notions in), a tin tray, some odds and ends books and a vintage drink cart. My husband tried to talk me out of the cart. He almost succeeded…then I went back and bought it anyway! Hey, it was only $6.00! How can you go wrong? Anyway, I primed it and painted it and now it is serving as a cart to hold all of my craft jars in my scrapbook/craft room.

Twitter shmitter….honestly. Who invented such nonsense? Does anyone really care that you are eating a hot dog for lunch or that you were up at 3 a.m.? Do I really need to know such things instantly? I have received several invitations to join Twitter…all of which I promptly deleted from my inbox while cackling like a maniac. Twitter is like IM’s gone awry. You get these messages, completely unsolicited, at all hours of the day which, by the way, reminds me of spam mail. I HATE spam. In fact, I believe I have lost a few friends over spam mail. Those friends felt it necessary to send me every urban legend circulating the world wide web, advice of quacks from unverified sources, scare tactics, etc. All the while I am reading this junk thinking “You gotta be kidding me!”. When I finally grew weary of hitting delete 105 times every time I opened my inbox, I finally sent a “friendly” little note asking my “friend” to please stop sending me such junk. Most of them quit sending me anymore email. Period. Well, if ya don’t have anything good to say, THEN DON’T SAY IT! Or, in this case, forward it (or Tweet it). :-)
Now, when I open my WordPress account, a little banner is on the screen asking me if I want to add Twitter to my blog. They should have left me a little box to check “No”. I am wondering, though, how in the world does that work? Do they send your blog posts to all your Twitterers? I guess I will have to read up on that.
Earlier, I decided to Google the word Twitter. I came across several people discussing Twitter as being the new microblog. Microblog? Is that a new name for text messages? Honestly.
Now, I know what you are thinking. You are wondering why, if I have such a disdain for reading everyone’s business at all hours of the day, why am I blogging? The answer really is simple. I don’t really care if people visit my blog or not. It is mainly for my personal journaling purposes. Could I write in a diary instead? Sure. But journaling in a weblog is much more fun and I can upload pictures! The difference between reading blogs on the computer and receiving “Tweets” is that when I read blogs on the computer, I am soliciting. I can control who and what I want to read about. When I receive Tweets, they are unsolicited. With Twitter, people would intrude on my privacy and work, at all hours of the day, whenever they deemed fit. I am sure that there are good uses for Twitter. But, for now, count me out!

Call it online sociability fatigue. And it’s not just being felt by older folks who have lived most of their lives without the Web. As social networking grows, from stream-of-consciousness Twitter to buttoned-up LinkedIn, even some of the very young people who’ve helped drive these sites’ growth could use a break.
